Doesn't it look much better without all of that brown, beige, and light pink (the color scheme for the entire house btw)? I think the wainscoting looks WAY better painted white...what do you think? Also, if you didn't notice that is a pic of the St. George Temple over the computer and there was one of Jesus in the living room, though I don't think we got a picture of that corner...aren't we such good mormons now? ;)

The Den: Before and After
So I suddenly got completely sick of looking at the den, or "computer room" as we call it this past Saturday, shoved everything into the center of the room, and started painting while listening to conference. I optimistically estimated that I could probably get it mostly finished by the end of the Sunday afternoon session. Well after staying up until 2am + three nights in a row, the last two with Patrick helping, we finally finished it. Here are some shots from before we moved in and a few after we moved in so you can get an idea of the sty we were living in before I snapped. I should say that this is the room where the movers put most of our stuff so it has been the most junk filled/disorganized of the house....and unfortunately where we seem to spend most of our days as the tv in the kitchen picks up pbs and the living room doesn't and since we're on the computer a lot.

Okay here are the after shots. The mirror is currently planned to go back on the bathroom door and the bookcase isn't filled yet, so I didn't take a picture of that...and ignore the box of office stuff we have yet to find a place for. Also the blue is slightly more purpley than I was going for, but I think it still turned out pretty good. :)

I love the paint job! I'm so impressed with how colorful you are - so many people are timid when using color, but I like bold colors. This room looks so cheerful now! I bet it's feeling more and more like home. :)
I agree with Julie, I really like your use of color in the house.
I think the den looks wonderful; the wainscoting does look much brighter in white. Good job!
Aaww, thanks guys! I admit this blue was a little bolder than I was going for, but I think it turned out okay (well enough that I'm not repainting it anyway). I really like color as well, it's so boring to just have plain white walls everywhere. :)
I LOVE it! It looks gorgeous! Good job. This is going to be a problem when Lawrence and I finally get married. I think boring beige walls are so energy sapping, but he likes them. Yuck.
So are you turning into a good little Mormon housewife that makes jello with carrots and whatnot? :)
oo, I like that color of blue! I wouldn't exactly call it a pigsty before though, really.
Nice links, you're such a good missionary.
margie- no I never could stand the jello with carrots in it so we're not going that far just yet. ;) I say you work on Lawrence one room at a time...like maybe start with the bathroom or guest room or something so he can get used to it first. ;)
Tearese- You can't really see all of the mess in those pictures...it was really bad.
I feel so inspired! I'll start on my rooms in a couple of weeks when I get back. What a world of difference the white on the wainscoting. This is wonderful. Three days, yuk! mine will take weeks! Keep this up. We love seeing the before and after shots.
I think that orange Sunburst window looks really cool next to the blue. Thats all.
