So apparently no one cares for my angry post about not going to my reunion...or no one is checking my blog anymore, one or the other. My sister called me today to tell me her water broke so she's off to the hospital to have her baby. My parents are leaving to watch her kids and would have arrived at her house right about the time we would have gotten to theirs. So I guess it's a good thing we're not going to my reunion since no one would be there but my brother. (Although that doesn't make me any less mad about the whole situation). Moving on.
So we're trying to decide between two baby names:
Henry Russell or William Russell (although I also like William Henry, but Patrick is insistent on the Russell part). Here are the definitions:
Henry: The boy's name Henry \he(n)-ry\ is pronounced HEN-ree. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "home ruler". Norman name that is a favored royal name (for eight kings) of England and France. The second son of the current Prince of Wales is named Henry.
William: The boy's name William \wi(l)-liam\ is pronounced WIL-yum. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "will helmet, protection". For a long time after the Norman conquest in AD 1066, three out of four English boys were given some form of the conqueror's name, William. Short forms and variants came into being with a common basic meaning of "will", "determined", or "resolute". William has remained a royal name in the UK for nearly one thousand years. The firstborn son of the current Prince of Wales is named William.
Before you say it, no I did not intend to name my son after Princess Di's kids, it was only later that I realized both of the names I liked were theirs... Anyway. William is cool because I still like it from the last time and because one of the meanings is "helmet" which is funny considering what Patrick does for a living. I have liked Henry since we saw the last Indiana Jones movie. I also like that it is a traditional name (ie not wierd) but still not as popular as say "michael". We also have ancestors on both sides (I think) with both of these names so we can claim we took them from our family history. Which do you like better?

I like Henry Russell. I agree that boys should have names that aren't too weird, and Henry is a know name that won't raise eyebrows without being in danger of being on the top ten boy's names list, me thinks. William is a nice name, but way TOO common. But Henry. It's solid. I like it. Which means you'll pick William fer sure. :)
I agree with the Pickle Princess. I like Henry Russell just a bit more than William Russell. Either way, though, you've got two solid names for your son.
OMG about Tearese's water breaking! How exciting!
I'm sorry you weren't able to go to your reunion. I thought I had commented, but I guess I didn't. That happens sometimes - I usually blog at work, so I get interrupted then forget to go back.
Don't worry I'm still reading your blog on google reader. My vote is for Henry. No good reason really, I just like it better.
I'm going to have to go with...
Okay, so I like them both. So, have another boy so you can name one Henry and the other William. I like Russell, too. Okay, so ... have this first one be ...
William.
I like Henry Russell because like it's not as common as name. But I do think William Russell flows better. Course if you do William you could nickname him Liam which I'm a fan of. So I say go for William. :)
Hah hah, I like Henry better too. Mom likes Henry, but she'll love William if you name him that. Thats all.
I meant to give my opinion when you were over for dinner, but got distracted...anyhow, no real solid reason to support it, but I prefer William Russell more. I'd think Henry was cool, too...though :-)
Hi,
I was searching for a photo of true Auburn hair to take to the beauty shop when I stumbled across your blog and beautiful hair:-) As a Nana to a David and Elizabeth, I wanted to vote for William, as I do think there are more nicknames (I love Wills for one). I started to post a comment and realized that you must have already had the baby, Sweet Baby James, as in the James Taylor song

When I found you were pregnant and again thinking of William, I could not resist saying how much I love the name and to wish you good luck and every happiness with your beautiful children. From one mother to another,
Anna
