Giving up Chocolate: Day Two

Well today went better than yesterday...of course that isn't really saying much since yesterday could be categorized as a total failure.  Patrick taking all of the chocolate to work with him helped.  The only chocolate we have left are the chips we have in food storage and the baking chocolate in the fridge.  Plus I totally overloaded yesterday, so I wasn't even really craving it today.  What I did want was something with cinnamon..like apple crisp or coffee cake....that would have been good.  But no apples, and luckily I was too busy today to bake a cake.  This evening after my nap (yes I sometimes take naps, though I've been missing them lately), I wandered into the computer room to see what the kids were doing and get started on dinner. (It is open to the kitchen)  Isabelle and James were sitting in front of the computer screen happily watching Short Circuit.  That movie is awesome...but that's beside the point.  While I was out they had apparently raided the candy left over and forgotten about from Christmas and Easter.  Pieces of candycane were everywhere and I found an empty bag of Mini Robin's Eggs.   I saw that they had gathered the eggs in a pile inside the openfaced candy cane box and were munching away. [On a side note I later found them in James's truck, under the chair, in my shoe and overflowing one of the train cars the kids play with.]  Now mini robin's eggs and I go way back.  In the past I have stocked up on these the second they go out on the shelves...you know the day after Valentines Day?  Robin's eggs and peeps...mmm...  Well two years back I went totally overboard with Robin's Eggs....I bought at least three 10 oz bags worth as well as 5-6 half pint sized cartons for "us."   Patrick does not care for Robin's Eggs, so I pretty much ate them all myself...in a two week period.  That is a lot of malt balls to eat in that amount of time.  It was over a year before I was able to even get up the slightest desire to try them again.  So anyway, the kids were eating these and even though I don't like them as much anymore my first inclination was to snag a couple.  I had eaten about two handfuls (which really sounds like a lot more then it is) when I remembered that they had chocolate under that thin candy shell.  This stopped me from eating more for the most part.  I did snitch a couple here and there throughout the evening, but only ever 1-2 at a time.
This evening when it became "that time" of the night where we both start prowling the kitchen for snacks I had trouble even trying to think of anything chocolate that I wanted.  So that's good.  Probably not a lasting side effect of overdoing it yesterday, but better than nothing.  Instead I had ice cream with toffee bits.  That doesn't go much towards my weightloss goals, but is good as far as the no chocolate thing.  In conclusion I'm going to categorize today as 90% successful.  :)

Wow. There were a lot of robin eggs at your house! lol. I'm allergic to malt, so I don't eat those really. The ice cream with toffe bits sound delicious, though!
